Compliance, Safety, Accountability (CSA) is a Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) initiative to improve large truck and bus safety. The intent is to reduce crashes, injuries, and fatalities that are related to commercial motor vehicles. All carriers with a U.S. DOT number and/or operating a Commercial Motor Vehicle (CMV) in interstate commerce are subject to the program.
Launched in December 2010, more data about drivers and motor carriers is tracked, tracking is more effective, and the FMCSA intervenes more quickly to correct motor carriers who are not meeting the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations.
