Nathan Daniel is the Vice President of Risk Management at Sinclair Risk & Financial Management
Mr. Daniel has been a Risk Management professional in the Insurance and Construction Industry for over 15 years working closely with firms of all sizes and complexities. He specializes in construction, handling a large volume of special trade contractors and manufacturing. Currently, he oversees Claims, Loss Control, and Human Resources as part of the Risk Management Division at Sinclair Risk and Financial Management.
Mr. Daniel is proficient in State & Federal OSHA, EPA and DOT requirements and issues, claims/medical management with an emphasis on Workers’ Compensation, Human Resources, and Industrial Hygiene. He formerly worked in the environmental consulting field and later with a union, special trade contractor as their Corporate Safety Director.
John Mastropietro is the Chairman of the State of Connecticut Workers’ Compensation Commission.
Mr. Mastropietro is Chairman of the State of Connecticut Workers’ Compensation Commission. Appointed as a Commissioner in 1995 and Chairman in 1999, he has 30 years of experience in administration and the practice of law. Prior to joining the Commission, Chairman Matropietro served as a litigation attorney for CIGNA, Regional Administrator/ Regional Housing Commissioner for the United States Department of Housing and Urban Development, and as an attorney for the Waterbury law firm of Mascolo, Rinaldi, Zipoli and Buckley, P.C. Active in politics, he was Chairman of the Connecticut Republican Party and served for six years as Chief of Staff to former U.S. Representative John Rowland. He earned his Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Connecticut and his Doctor of Jurisprudence degree from Western New England College School of Law.
Derrick Amato is the President and CEO of Comp, LLC. He is also the Administrative Director of Occupational Health for Saint Francis Hospital and Medical Center.
Mr. Amato serves as the Chief Executive Officer for Connecticut Occupational Medicine Partners, LLC. as well as the Administrative Director for St. Francis Hospital, Department of Occupational Health, and as CEO of Medworks, LLC. Mr. Amato previously served as the Vice President of Workers’ Compensation Sales and Strategy at MultiPlan in Waltham,MA. He also served as National Director – Medical Center of Excellence at the Accident Fund of America; Chief Operations Officer of Clinical Management Services at Coventry Workers Comp Services; President, Care Management Services, Concentra Integrated Services; and Senior Vice President, Field Claim Services, Cambridge Integrated Services Group.
Mr. Amato is an associate member of the Eastern Association of Workers’ Compensation Board of Commissioners; a member of the Workers’ Compensation Committee of the Self-Insurance Institute of America; and a member of the Workers’ Compensation Committee of the Claims & Litigation Alliance.
Paul Mangiafico is a Compliance Assistance Specialist for Occupational Safety and Health Administration (Hartford)
Paul Mangiafico has been in the safety and health field for 25 years. He has been aConstruction Health and Safety Technician(CHST) since 1995, and an Occupational Health and Safety Technologists (OHST) since 2007. Mangiafico has been with OSHA for over 18 years and has served as a Compliance Officer and as a manager in Region I and V. As the Compliance Assistance Specialist in the Hartford Area Office, Mangiafico provides compliance assistance to unions, associations, employers and employees on how to comply with the OSHA regulations and the measures necessary to prevent injuries and illnesses in the workplace.
Prior to joining OSHA, Mangiafico worked as a safety director, providing on-site safety and health inspections to general contractors working in the construction industry. Mangiafico also worked as an electrician.
Leona May – Compliance Assistance Specialist for Occupational Safety and Health Administration (Bridgeport)
Leona May had worked in private industry for more than 20 years in research and development with several Connecticut-based Fortune 500 companies prior to coming to work for Federal OSHA in 1990. Initially hired as an OSHA compliance officer in Hartford, Conn., she transferred to the Bridgeport area when it opened in 1991. In the field, she worked as both a safety compliance officer and an industrial hygienist. Her areas of specialty included general industry, construction, and maritime industries. In 2001, she was promoted to her current position of compliance assistance specialist. In this role, she has been involved directly with outreach activities and performs no enforcement work. Her duties cover a wide spectrum of audiences including teen workers, union apprentice programs, work readiness groups, and worker advocate groups from general industry and construction.
May joined the ASSE Nutmeg Chapter as a student while attending the University of New Haven, where she graduated in 1990 with a bachelor’s degree in occupational safety and health. She has received the Safety Professional of the Year award from her local chapter, Nutmeg, in 2007, and also received the New England ASSE Safety Professional of the Year award in 2008.
